A neighborhood priority is to complete the Baywalk along the entire bay front from 5th Street to 17th Street. And to add a pedestrian bridge over 5th Street, thus connecting the West Ave Baywalk with South of Fifth Baywalk.
WAvNA’s BAYWALK PROGRESS REPORT

Six sections of the Baywalk are completed (3,565 ft, 59%)
- 1445 16th Street, THE CAPRI is completed
- 1500 Bay Rosd, FLAMINGO POINT is completed
- 1330 West Avenue, WAVERLY is completed
- 1300 Monad Terrace, Monad is almost complete
- 660 West Avenue, The FLORIDIAN is completed
- 540 West Avenue, BENTLEY BAY is completed
Baywalk sections not completed:
800 West Avenue SOUTH BAY CLUB (425 ft, 7%)
Update – G.O. BOND for the 2022 cycle allocates funds for design, permitting and construction of Baywalk. Previously, DRB Order 22960 dated May 2013, is an agreement to provide an easement for a 10 ft wide public Baywalk next to the existing seawall which would be over water.
910 West Avenue SOUTHGATE TOWERS (650 ft, 11%)
DRB 22945 March/Aug 2013 is an agreement to provide an easement for an upland Public Baywalk. The Baywalk was completed in 2015 but is still not open to the public.
10th to 12th Street, MONDRIAN, MIRADOR NORTH and SOUTH (935 ft, 15%)
Update – A Development Agreement dated 2018 requires the applicant of the 500 Alton Road tower to build a 10-foot wide Baywalk from 10th to 12th Street with help from the city with permitting. At LUSC Jan 20, 2021, The CIP director, David Martinez, stated that we are two years away from starting the design and permitting process. In the meantime, the city submitted on March 8, 2021 a design and permit application to Army Corp of Engineers.
Previously, DRB 20181, Nov 2007 is an agreement requiring the applicant to pay for the permitting, design and construction of a 15-foot wide Public Baywalk either attached or detached from the existing seawall (on land or over water), from 10th to 12th Street. If the applicant was forced by permits or chose to build the Baywalk east of the seawall (over land), the Baywalk could be 5 feet wide.
1228 West Avenue BAYVIEW TERRACE (130 ft, 2%)

Previously, the city has an easement agreement dated 2008 from this building to construct a public Baywalk which is part of a Conditional Use approval by the Planning Board for the reconstruction of a pier and dock lost during hurricane, The condominium Association agree to design their replacement pier and dock so that it can accommodate an over water baywalk connection behind its property. No arrangements were made for private funding of this connection.
1250 West Avenue BAY GARDEN MANOR, (210 ft, 4%)
Update – G.O. BOND for the 2022 cycle allocates funding for design, permitting and construction of Baywalk. However, the city does not have an easement from this building to construct a Public Baywalk.
1450 Lincoln Road LINCOLN BAY TOWERS (115 ft, 2%)
DRB 22891 Feb 2012, an agreement to grant the city riparian rights to construct an over water Public Baywalk which would connect the Lincoln Rd street end on the north with the Capri Public Baywalk to the south. The permitting, design and construction of this Baywalk is in theory included in the West Avenue Streetscape Phase II, which has recently been awarded to Ric Man construction to complete. However, the city is waiting for the condo board to sign off on permit which they have been reluctant to do.
